This is awesome. 

Probably the best recording of Mercy Mercy Mercy yet. And that's saying a lot considering we've recorded it over half a dozen times.

Thirty-second crescendo starting @5:05 of Marco is epic. As is the next minute or so following.

The first two minutes here are the most unpredictable thing I’ve heard in my life. And it was me😂. Real chaos there.

One of my all-time favorite moments is a 15-second section with Jim and Tim in between the end of the chorus and into the 2nd verse. They do this great back and forth call and response that sounds awesome...like we know what we're doing. Tim also crushes the guitar solo....

9:00-12:30 has some great solo transitions. Fun to listen to. 

I dig that beat in the beginning. I was channeling the beat from a tune I recently put on our RM62 spotify list, "T" Plays It Cool from a Marvin Gaye sound track. 

 

Nice addition to the roster. I liked this one. I just have to stop sucking on the fills. 

A couple of 18-minuters in there. Now that's kicking the rust off. 

I wasn't going to mix and this, but there's actually something here. I like the chord structure and dig what starts to happen around 5:00. Phil or X starts moving it along with the guitar. We should see about fleshing this out more.

Mahlon, your drumming on this sounds fantastic. We need to keep playing this number. Really nice space in it. And the crazy keys tone is fabulous too.

Very disappointed that nobody used the Jazz Scat voice on the Roland during the bridge. Otherwise stellar effort.

The Crusaders “Live at the Roxy”. Band intro over the vamp might be the funkiest thing ever recorded. R.I.P. Joe Sample.

It's a Jr Walker & the All Stars song originally I think. But the Steve Gadd version with Cornell Dupree & Ronnie Cuber is what made us want to play this.

Matt's exploration at 4:36 is mind bending. What is this song? When I search YouTube I get all Korean girl videos. WTF. It sounds kind of like Dance With Me by Orleans. Is that what's going on here? Yacht Rock classics without the B sections and lyrics? ;-)

I'm pissed about the organ solo in Cigar Time. I nailed on recording 1, but we ditched that because Bell effed up a change. Then this barf was my second solo 🤷‍♀️

At least Pete's solo is on point and the moog sounds good. (full disclosure - haven't listened to the moog solo yet, but assume it rocks)

Nice all around guys. Horn, keys, smokin' guitar lead and funked up bass and tight drums. Nice guys. Inspirational. I need my Charlestown fix.

This was a fun one. Indeed, great work on the four string, Mailman. 

WTF is going on for the first 10 minutes of this song? I'm pretty sure the guitars are playing in a different key from the keys.

2nd half of this is 💵💵💵. Is that Mahlon on bass? Nice job.

This would be dope if the bass played the actual basslines from the song (no offense to whomever was playing bass - nobody actually knew the song coming into the night ✌️)

I already commented on the pizzicato amazingness at 9-ish by matt I think. Nice nice noice well done.

Two things about this recording that surprised me:

1. It's the first time we've played it in six months
2. We've only recorded it two other times

We get a little spazzy later on, but I love this one. 

This is kind of my favorite number we've ever played. Love how much space there is. We have some tightening up to do here, but all the distinct parts make for an excellent groove.  

We didn't really play this in earnest (it was on when we started jamming), but I'd like to. I posted the charts in the song details.

When Pete and Adam hit the melody together it sounds money.

Ha! Adam, you’re right. Fade out is a pain in the ass...I was just covering my tracks (no pun intended). 

This is a pretty good go at this number. Some great moments here. Pete is thumping on the bass! And we'll need to get Jim singing this one.
